Connor Hayes speaks with Prof. Bill Bowring, who teaches human rights and international law at Birkbeck College, University of London, about self-determination, international law, and the Kurdish freedom movement.
Prof. Bowring teaches human rights and international law at Birkbeck College, in the University of London. As a barrister, he has represented numerous applicants in cases at the European Court of Human Rights, including cases concerning Kurds and the Turkish state. He is a founder and board member of the European Human Rights Advocacy Centre (EHRAC), and the president of the European Lawyers for Democracy and Human Rights (ELDH). He is the author of more than 100 publications, including the books Law, Rights and Ideology in Russia: Landmarks in the Destiny of a Great Power, and The Degradation Of The International Legal Order?: The Rehabilitation Of Law And The Possibility Of Politics.
