Connor Hayes speaks with Ogmundur Jonasson, the former Minister of Justice of Iceland, about his career as a trade unionist and politician in Iceland, his solidarity work with the Kurdish freedom movement, and the necessity for re-thinking governance at the global scale.

Ogmundur Jonasson is a politician, diplomat, journalist, trade unionist, and intellectual from Iceland. He has served as a member of the Icelandic parliament, as the Ministers of the Interior, of Justice, and Health for the Icelandic government, and as a representative to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. He also had a long career as a journalist and trade union leader, and also spent a number of years as a part-time lecturer at the University of Iceland. He has been a long-time friend of the Kurdish movement; he has participated in a number of International Peace Delegations to Imrali, and is a signatory of the International Initiative “Freedom for Abdullah Ocalan – Peace in Kurdistan.”
