Theatre for Everybody (Gaza) and Az Theatre (London) are working together to create 30 sessions in resilience and life skills for children from communities in most need in Gaza.
Courses of 6 sessions for 20 children in each of 5 communities. We need to raise £2500 to make this happen. All money raised will go direct to service delivery in Gaza (see Note). It costs £25 for each child.
£2500 by Friday 29th October 2021

It was estimated by the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor that, after the 11 days of Israeli attacks in May, 91.4% of Gaza’s children suffer from some from of conflict-related trauma. An expert we spoke to said this was an underestimate. 5,400 children lost their home, 72,000 were displaced, 241 lost one or both parents, 66 were killed, 241 (at least) were severely injured. Az Theatre Director, Jonathan Chadwick was told by his counterparts in Theatre for Everybody that UNICEF funds had run out for one of the main child support providers and when he asked what could we do, the answer was simple: SUPPORT THE CHILDREN.
Our overall objective is to mitigate the psychological impact of the military assault, violence and unrest in Gaza.
Our specific objective is to give children in conflict-affected areas improved access to essential psychosocial services.
The artist/animators that GAZA: SUPPORT THE CHILDREN will deploy are skilled in the delivery of excellent strategically implemented programmes of therapeutic/creative, resilience/life skills sessions. They are also well trained in child protection detection and referral so that, during the sessions, they will detect any child in need of further child protection services and refer the child to service providers. These will provide, further to the sessions, counselling, case management, food security, medical services and education support.
• The sessions will be run in Shuja’iyya (densely populated neighbourhood in the north of Gaza City), Beit Lahiya (Atatra) in the Northern Governorate, Al-Qarara village near Khan Yunis in the South, Bani Suheila also in the Khan Yunis Governorate, Rafah (Al Shaboora Camp) in the most southerly part of the Strip.
• Theatre for Everybody’s artistic directors have professional child protection and rehabilitation experience.
Please give money to make this project possible.
