for over four months the resistance of the HPG (Peoples` Defense Forces) and YJA-Star (Free Women`s Units) guerrilla has been continuing against Turkey`s attempt to occupy South Kurdistan. We would like to share with you the latest developments in Kurdistan:
– On August 24, 2021, the HPG released its monthly balance sheet documenting the details of the guerrilla`s resistance in South Kurdistan. According to the statement, since July 24 the guerrilla has carried out 60 attacks on Turkish occupying forces in South Kurdistan. 85 Turkish soldiers have been killed and 19 more wounded. The Turkish army has used chemical weapons 65 times against guerrilla positions. Seven members of the HPG have fallen as martyrs. The guerrilla has also damaged six Turkish helicopters and shot down two drones. The HPG and YJA-Star guerrilla has been resisting against Turkey`s occupation attacks on South Kurdistan since April 23, 2021.
– On August 23, 2021, the member of the KCK Executive Council Duran Kalkan gave an extensive interview, including topics like Abdullah Öcalan`s imprisonment, the recent attacks on Sinjar and the crisis in Afghanistan. We are publishing the English translation of parts of this interview on twitter.
– On August 21, 2021, the commander of the HPG headquarters Murat Karayilan gave an insight into the current situation in the South Kurdish areas Metîna, Zap and Avaşîn where fighting is taking place daily. In the video interview Murat Karayilan used a detailed map to clarify where the current front line is and what kind of strategy the Turkish army is using to occupy South Kurdistan.
