An event celebrating Newroz and the spirit of resistance

Date/time: Tuesday 17 March, 6-8pm

Venue: Committee Room 9, Portcullis House, Westminster, SW1A 0AA

From the Anfal campaign in the late 1980’s and the Halabja Genocide in Iraq to the Dersim Massacre (1937) and the Roboski bombing (2011) in Turkey; from the short lived Mahbad Republic in Iran to the Rojava Revolution in Syria, recent Kurdish history has been replete with not only harrowing atrocities but also with inspirational examples of resistance.

Each year, the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) holds an event in in Parliament to celebrate Newroz, Kurdish New year, which falls on the 21st March, the first day of Spring. This year, we bring together representatives from all parts of divided Kurdistan to discuss the meaning of Newroz, as a symbol of resistance and freedom for the Kurdish nation.

This event is free and open to all but please RSVP to knklondon@gn.apc.org to confirm your attendance.

Please allow 30 minutes to go through security at the entrance to Portcullis House.
