KNK Statement on South Kurdistan
Turkey continues its genocidal and colonial policies in Kurdistan in defiance of its
international responsibilities
The Turkish state, in its guise as the inheritor of the Ottoman Empire, is not pulling out of Kurdistan and is intensifying its military operations there. On the one hand it is bombarding Kurdish civilian areas with heavy artillery and fighter jets, and on the other hand, it is spreading its occupation to the rest of Kurdistan in Syria and Iraq. The Turkish state has just widened its occupation by entering Western Kurdistan (Northern-Syria). First, it entered Jarablus, El-Bab and most recently it entered Efrin with all its military power and is now committing ethnic cleansing in the city. Kurdish people around the world are protesting the massacres and ethnic cleansing perpetrated by the Turkish State in Afrin
Kurdish people who have been protesting the invasion of Afrin by Turkish State and its affiliate jihadi groups, an invasion which was practically approved by the silence of the USA, the EU and the UN and proactively by Russia. Kurdish People and their friends have now commenced activities to raise awareness to break the silence of the same western powers towards the situation. The Kurdish people and their friends are calling on these western powers to take urgent practical measures and get into action.

Kurdistan National Congress (KNK), Statement 19 March 2018 END THE INVASION AND ETHNIC CLEANSING IN AFRIN BY THE TURKISH STATE
The Turkish state is now intensifying the massacres to which it is subjecting civilians in Afrin. The Turkish State has sped up the ethnic cleansing in Kurdish city of Afrin by exploiting the opportunity that has arisen from the withdrawal of SDF, YPJ and YPG, who had intended to prevent harm to the civilians and even bigger massacres.
The real aim of the Turkish State is to eliminate the Kurdish people altogether and to prevent any political status for them. It is obvious from their practice in the invasion of Afrin that the Turkish State will continue its policy of ethnic cleansing with all the jihadist murderous gangs with which it is in alliance.
The state terror being perpetrated by the Turkish State and the barbarism of the jihadist with whom it is aligned is taking place before the eyes of the whole world. All international forces and primarily the USA, Russia, the EU and the UN are responsible for this invasion and the ethnic cleansing. WE DEMAND AN IMMEDIATE HALT TO TURKEY’S WAR ON THE PEOPLE OF AFRIN: OPEN LETTER TO PRIME MINISTER THERESA MAY
Peace in Kurdistan – Women Alliance for Kurdistan, Iraq and Syria
Dear Prime Minister
On International Women’s Day 2018 we call on your government to acknowledge and condemn the Turkish invasion of Afrin and the attacks currently taking place there against a women’s revolution in Afrin in Northern Syria.
The invasion constitutes a war of aggression and is therefore in breach of international law. Its continuation is in clear breach of Security Council Resolution 2401. Continue reading “WE DEMAND AN IMMEDIATE HALT TO TURKEY’S WAR ON THE PEOPLE OF AFRIN: OPEN LETTER TO PRIME MINISTER THERESA MAY”

INTRODUCTION
On the night before January 20, 2018, the Turkish military and its jihadist allies jointly attacked the Afrin canton. The Turkish army calls this war of aggression “Operation Olive Branch” and claims to defend itself from attacks. International lawyers disagree and in fact, the opposite is the case. In 2017 alone [see attachment 2: chronology of Turkish attacks on Afrin 2017], the Turkish military attacked the area around the northwestern corner of Syria at least dozen times with artillery in order to provoke a war. In this sense, the beginning of the attacks on January 20 was not unexpected but rather planned long ahead of time. GMB CONDEMNS BORIS JOHNSON’S ‘ILL-INFORMED’ REMARKS ABOUT TURKEY’S ATTACK ON KURDISH REGION OF AFRIN
Instead of selling arms to the genocidal Erdogan regime, Johnson should be supporting the Kurds who have been pivotal in defeating ISIS says GMB
GMB, Britain’s general union, has condemned Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson’s ill-informed and hypocritical comments about Turkey’s illegitimate attack on Afrin.
Mr Johnson said that Turkey was right to want to “make its borders secure” and that the UK and Turkey have a shared goal of “reducing violence”. The reality is that Turkey’s invasion of Syria is just one more chapter in their long history of persecuting the Kurdish people. During the conflict in Syria, Afrin has been the calmest region in the country and poses no threat to Turkey whatsoever.
