We invite you to join a demonstration to protest the brutal killings of Kurdish journalists Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin, who tragically lost their lives in a UCAV attack by the Turkish army in northern Syria. This attack, part of ongoing aggression against Rojava, is yet another assault on the freedom of the press and the fundamental right to report the truth.

The protest will take place:
Sunday, 22nd December 2024, at 2PM
BBC Broadcasting House, Portland Place, London W1A 1AA

The General Coordination of the Democratic Press Union (Yekitiya Ragihandina Demokratîk, YRD) has released a powerful statement condemning these killings and reaffirming their commitment to upholding the legacy of these brave journalists. Cihan and Nazım were targeted for exposing the genocidal actions of the Turkish state and for being voices of truth in an increasingly silenced region.

We call on journalists, media organisations, and all advocates of press freedom to stand in solidarity against the continued targeting of free press workers and the violent suppression of truth.

Your presence at this demonstration will amplify the call for justice and honor the sacrifices of Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin, as well as countless others who have given their lives in the pursuit of truth. Together, we can resist attacks on press freedom and uphold the principles of democratic reporting.

Please share this call widely among your networks. We look forward to seeing you there as we demand accountability and justice.
